Hello all, I'm a newbie fundraiser and the only person at my charity who works in the department. As such, I don't have anyone who's a specialist to check my work with. Right now, I'm sending out requests to local businesses for donations to a silent auction, and I'm not seeing much success. There's an extent to which I believe this is a bit of a numbers game in which you have to be prepared for rejection, but on the other hand I've read that being a good fundraiser means thinking that you're not asking in quite the right way, rather than believing that people just aren't willing to give. I was wondering if anyone with experience in this area may be willing to check the text of the emails I'm sending out and provide feedback? I am also calling people when possible but generally get told to send an email. Thank you.
