The end of the year is fast approaching, and the festive season will soon be upon us. The final four to six weeks of the year inspire people to help those less fortunate than themselves, through giving back to the local community or to their favourite charity.
COVID-19 has reduced the number of ways people can give; this year, clothes and toys donations and carol concerts have all been severely reduced, driving people more towards financial donations.
The end of the year is also the time when businesses consider making charity contributions in accordance with their Corporate Social Responsibility strategies and any unallocated budgets, by involving their employees in volunteering, lending skills, or in donating money to their favourite organisations.
Individuals and families often consider donations around Christmas, especially if they have some money left after shopping for their loved ones.
According to a recent BlackBaud report, 10% of the end of year givers do so because they prefer charitable donations over giving physical gifts to friends and family. This is also a conscious effort to reduce the negative environmental impact of unwanted gifts.
So, now is the perfect time for your organization to set up an online donation page and make an appeal to fund a specific project or support your core expenditure. You can use different channels to create awareness of your donation page and funding needs, such as your website, social media channels or newsletter.
