I have decided to start a charity but so far struggling to decide which structure to take. I have thoroughly read and reread about the different types but still can't decide what sort of charity to become.
I will be the founder/director, I have 4 people ready to be trustees. We have a target audience (if that's the right word) and we have an idea for the first fundraising event. We want to help men with mental health issues, because we are a new charity it will be local in the beginning although the way we offer our services is mobile so if we did do well we are in a position to travel anywhere with our services.
None of us are in it to make any money although after reading lots of stuff it seems that a director and ceo can be paid a wage. As I say this does not appeal to me as the founder at this stage and can't see that changing.
I want to be in full control and understand I can't be a trustee, can trustees take my control and remove me from the charity if I am the founder and Managing director? I don't think we need a ceo and as the founder / director I am able to refuse any pay aren't I?
Thank you for any advice you can offer.
