- We are interested in ethics and values. We care about what we stand for and want to work for an organisation with good values. This is easier in the not for profit sector than other sectors as we are all striving for a better world. However, it could raise questions about ways of working within the organisation; are the external values playing out internally? Or will your new millennials be looking around confused?
- We have fresh ideas. If you allow us space to be innovative and imaginative then we will thrive. We like to think of new ways of working and like the idea of being flexible. If we are given this space there could be some exciting results for your company.
- We analyse things very quickly. Some have criticised new millennials for having a short attention span but I think this is unfair. We have grown up around technology and therefore with lots of information constantly at our finger-tips. We have had to work out in a matter of seconds if something is relevant or if we should move onto the next webpage.
- We want opportunities. We are always looking for ways to gain skills and responsibility. Providing regular feedback sessions and training for us will make us feel valued. We are relatively new to the workplace so put the time into nurturing and growing us and will be better workers.
- We thrive in a positive environment. We don’t want to feel trapped by negativity, or fear being rebuffed for new ideas. I think sometimes companies forget to make things fun, work doesn’t have to be serious and if someone feels valued they are bound to be more invested and work harder.
