Challenge is Zurich Community Trust's largest annual volunteering initiative where teams of Zurich employees will typically undertake - between July and September each year, a ‘challenge’ that helps local charities in some way. It's one of the initiatives that Zurich employees are most proud of and last year they completed over 250 projects around the country.
In January 2019, I will be writing to a number of charitable organisations inviting them to submit their applications for Challenge 2019 – we are celebrating our 30th year and would love to get more organisations involved. We are looking for charitable organisations, located within 25 miles of any of Zurich's UK offices, to provide us with projects that can be carried out by an average of 4-10 staff over one day, although there may be scope for larger or smaller projects, as team sizes can vary.
As long as your project helps disadvantaged people, adds value to your organisation and there is an element of 'team' to the project, we'll consider it.
Decorating and gardening projects are always extremely popular (although please remember we aren't qualified gardeners or decorators!) or we can consider requests to help you organise a fun day or evening, take a group on a day trip or even collect items that will be useful to you.
Please note that the teams will fundraise themselves for anything required to carry out the project, so it is worth remembering that if too much fundraising is required, there is less chance of the project being taken up. A guideline would be a maximum of around £300 to £350.
The majority of projects which were not picked up last year were day trips for more than 30 people, especially to venues with high entrance fees, or fun days that required a large team (over 10 people) to organise and deliver them. Please consider this when submitting your project(s) to us. .
If your charitable organisation is within 25 miles radius of a Zurich UK office and you’d like to submit a challenge to us in the New Year, please respond to this thread or DM me on charityconnect and I will ensure you are added to the mailing list.
