I volunteer in a location that is shameful. There are reasons. There is lack of suitable accessible alternatives for 3 significant social groups. The owners, a charity have presumably exclusion from LA funding.
I was a local councillor, I served 2002-2010, I would not focus on health and education. 'I know about those'. I specialised in planning and had my eyes opened. The charity behind London Open House and TfL offered incredible and exciting free training that opened my eyes to the significance of planning and architecture to well-being.
I was careful to limit my contact to avoid influence. A church invited me to visit their factory premises in which they wanted to build a worship centre with 'change of use'. I saw their clothing store and evidence of practical social outreach and training, They should find and report their statistics for volunteering time and training. Evidence for employment and training.
Later, as Mayor of Hounslow, I visited their professional Christmas present distribution for children and families referred by social services. The 'worship space' was beautiful. There were tables for people to sit and enjoy a hot drink, sections for age groups, boys and girls, a wrapping service and presents for the parents! The church was flourishing.
I linked with Open City, Ciria and Susdrain, the Building Research Centre, a group, that warmly welcomed this aged local politician, for YOUNG architects and related occupations. I was usually the ONLY politician in events in those organisations. Probably the only one with leadership (trustee) experience, in planning the construction of new housing, transformation of a more recent housing block, and the updating of listed buildings in the third sector.
It would be useful to interact on this important issue.
