Google ad grants, are they worth it?

Hello, I can see similar queries have been posted over the years, but nothing lately.
I am considering Google Ad Grants and the actual application process seems pretty simple. I can see why you would want to make the most of having a large budget like that for free. However, my concerns are:
1. Having the expertise to actually use the opportunity productively. Our team simply doesn't have the time to train up on this.
2. Using a company to manage it - I have had a wide range of quotes from companies per month who say they can manage and optimise the ads - is the ROI on these worth spending £250 - £500 a month on a company like this?
3. If they work well, can they generate more donations rather than clients? Our team is already overstretched, so although a wider reach of awareness would be wonderful, if we don't have the funds from donations, we won't be able to cope with a bigger influx...
Any thoughts or experiences here?
