Hi all,
I am writing to seek support for coming up with a crowdfunding strategy. The problem is I am not affiliated with any organisation which makes it difficult for me to access funding. I am looking to raise a min of 300 pounds (or even better, min of 350) by mid-April. I am currently using the youcaring platform (which is not well-known...) ( https://www.youcaring.com/soulrelicsmuseum) I am currently only getting donation from friends and family but not even a penny from strangers who support the cause...
The project is called Soul Relic Museum (http://soulrelicsmuseum.me). Twitter: https://twitter.com/soul_relics. It is an archive of objects representing a time of struggle with mental health or personal wellbeing in their owners’ lives AND a storytelling platform. The vision of the Soul Relics Museum is to foster empathy and a deeper understanding of mental health issues. This coming April, the Soul Relics Museum (http://soulrelicsmuseum.me) will be setting up a series of pop-up exhibitions in London. The first one will be in King’s College London for mental health awareness week.
My Plan
  • 1.       Philanthropy organisations/ businesses/ grants organisations etc (I searched through lots of places and cannot seem to find anywhere I can access funding...)
  • 2.       Local stationery shops/ art supply shops/ paperchase etc for donating materials
  • 3.       Media eg. Buzzfeed, guardian etc → the problem is I don't know know any journalist...
  • 4.       Social media push – facebook, twitter  → I am trying to post at least twice a day but doesn't really translate into anything
  • https://www.thunderclap.it/projects/69079-soul-relics-museum-exhibition
  • 5.       Bake sale - I am liaising with one cafe but it's been very slow. has anyone tried this? or do you know anywhere I can do bake sale legally?
  • 6.       Flyering/ stick on notice board in supermarkets, libraries etc

What I say to individual:
What you can do:
  1. DONATE (if wish to support the cause financially!). You can visit this link: https://www.youcaring.com/soulrelicsmuseum. £5 will enable us to share #mentalhealth stories with even more people!
  2. SPREAD THE WORD! (if you have a few seconds!) Please help Retweet the crowdfunding post on https://twitter.com/soul_relics
and please tag @soul_relics! More people will know about us!
  3. PLEDGE to support the campaign (you don’t have to donate) here: https://www.thunderclap.it/ (*The campaign will only go live later next week)
  4. GIVE US A SHOUT if you know anywhere we can get affordable cardboards/paints/cheap printing etc
  5. Just turn up and look at the exhibition!

UPDATE: I went around central london and shoreditch over the weekend to ask for help in local cafes to give me some free meal vouchers for raffles etc, not much luck! >
Does anyone has any idea? This is my first time doing it and I am currently feeling slightly helpless and exhausted with ideas...
