Hi Everyone

I posted (on Monday - maybe a bit late for some to fit into diaries etc - apologies) about Peer to Peer World 2018, an annual online conference held yesterday (19/9) ... all about Peer to Peer Fundraising.

It was free to attend, and it is free to be able to view all of the five presentations from this year. They were:

The Science of P2P Fundraising - Proven e-mails that help with Fundraising Activation rates - Mission Engagement best practices - What everyone should know about Sponsorship (of P2P events) - How to chose the right P2P Fundraising Tec Platform for an event

I did only catch four of them (missed the tec presentation) and do admit that i wasn't watching the last presentation at 9pm on Tuesday night, actually a key (caught up with that yesterday) to success, but they (all five) are now available without any sign-up (they are on YouTube) and this is for ever (as long as YouTube is in existence ...)

My review (and I am not a P2P specialist) was that the Marketing, Business Development and Process Management knowledge given by the speakers was of a VERY high quality. For those new to P2P, the 'Science' on was invaluable. The 'E-mails' was so much detail and very thorough for process. The 'Engagement' presentation covers lots of the planning and strategizing you need to do - and getting 'Sponsorship' is a key.

The downside. At some online conferences, the slides come with the presentation. Here, the presenters often gave out a link to a web site (theirs) where you could sign up to get white papers - guides etc all about their work. If you don't want to make contact (initially), then you'll need to watch the presentations on full screen, and be prepared to take lots of screen shots - or notes.

If you're a P2P professional, your thoughts (your review) would be great. If  you watched (or watch soon) and have gained some real insights, please do add comments (lots please) to this post, or why not create something in the coming weeks?

What we all need to realise is that events like this do attract lots of people/attendees, but maybe not of the levels of numbers that some commercial conferences do. There, the presenters will get people interested in the services and it will be direct, just because the size of the pool of people attending. By giving a link to their own web site at this event, these experts are just helping their chances of finding charities and groups who need advice. When experts do work in a more niche area, so for a smaller potential customer base, they can be 'protective' of their advice and avoid giving away some (a lot) of their knowledge. This is part of what 'professional services sales' used to be like just a decade ago. If you've read any of my other (not always lengthy) posts, you'll know I'm a bit of a small charity supporter, and conferences like P2P World are a key to their being able to even contemplate what P2P Fundraising can do for them. It is just a start though!

Anyway - please contribute a review if you can!
