CharityConnect: Updated: I am buying old grant applications
I am buying publishing rights for your old grant applications. They must have been submitted after 2008.
I know there will be questions. Here are some of them I have already received:
Is this legal? Absolutely! I am keen to credit rights holders where necessary but in many cases the applications for grants change annually, so old applications, research, and even budgets become obsolete. If you're working for an organisation with a pile of well-written but rejected applications, you can still make money from them by selling them to me.
What kind of research will you do with these applications? I will not be doing any research. I will copy edit the submissions and make them publishable. Then, I will publish them in a format that many people will be able to see or access.
I want to get involved but I don't want the applicant to be listed... I will redact the name of the applicant if you insist on it but I may include identifying information (such as a description of organisation) if it is pertinent to the application itself.
I have a grant application but it is for an organisation that is still doing that activity, will you buy it? Unless you can provide signed permission in writing from the organisation for the transfer of the document subject to the same terms at the author(s), please do not submit details about an application with an existing organisation.
This application is for an organisation that is sadly missed, but I want them to know I am selling this, what should I do? Tell them and use the same language as above to include in your proposal.
I wrote a grant but the funding stream has been cut off, or my data is about to expire, will people really be able to do anything with it? Yes.
I wrote a commissioning document but now the project has come to an end, will you still buy it? It's possible.
What do I need to send you? Send me a three paragraph email detailing the application, the funder, the applicant, and the outcome. In the case of multiple offers, please include their contact information. Better yet, contact them first and tell them what you are doing. Limit two grant applications per email. You can send this to parmanjohn (at) gmail dot com with the subject line: Your Name ^ Grant Application.
What are you going to do with them? I have already purchased 18 incredible applications from England, Wales and Scotland through a letter writing campaign and have selected five to be included in a new book. This anthology will hopefully help to close gaps in performance for small and large organisations UK-wide.
My work is priceless! Can't you pay me more? Tell me what you think it is worth. If it's from the last 660 days, I am willing to pay a higher rate.
Themes I am looking for: nature and wildlife conservation, eldercare and old-age support and services, affordable housing, independent living, social enterprises, renovations, further and higher education, Educational Maintenance Allowance funded, NEETs, and microgrants.
Payment: I pay between £250 and £50 per application depending on a number of factors. I am only buying worldwide print and electronic publishing rights. You will have no right to additional royalties for any reason. There may be events related to the book and if an author or authors are asked to appear they will be provided with an agreed day rate plus travel expenses.
Applications must in an editable format such as a DOC, DOCX, or RTF format at time of transfer or delivered on clean white paper. If you want to mail your documents I will send you a self-addressed stamped envelope to return.
I will reply to all serious offers. Please do not send complete documents for any reason prior to agreement of terms and payment.
