Where do I start when it comes to finding grants?

Hello all,
I am delighted to say, my charity, Wonder Wards has now been officially registered! I am ecstatic and looking forward to moving ahead and helping as many children and young people, suffering with life limiting conditions, as we can.
However, despite donating my military gratuity pay out to the charity's cause, finances are tight, making it difficult to operate. I have been searching for grants. But alas, finding anything that fits our purposes, seems to be alluding me.
Does anyone have experience of finding grants? Or can anyone please help me find a grant I can apply for, to help with operational costs as well as object fulfilment.
