CharityConnect: Campaigning and elections
I hadn't recovered from the 2015 General Election when the Brexit vote happened. Now, less than a year later, we are heading to the polls to vote once more in another General Election(!)

Beyond what you might think personally about the election, parties and candidates (and trust me, I have A LOT of feelings), the decision to call a snap election presents many opportunities and challenges for charities, particularly from a campaigning standpoint.

We did a big campaign around the 2015 General Election which saw some of our best engagement to date from campaigners and MP's/candidates alike, both online and offline. It was easily the most inspiring project I have been involved with in my career so far and something I am hugely proud to have been a part of. Now, a mere 2 years later, we are facing the decision of what we do for this election.

Almost a week on from Theresa May's announcement, the dust feels like it is settling but the campaigning activity is only just beginning.

I'm sure we're not the only organisation busily having discussions and making plans over what to do next. So, I thought it would be interesting to start a discussion about people's thoughts, plans and fears about the election.

In particular, I'm interested to hear...
  • Are you planning to do any campaigning activity around the election?
  • What is/ has been your organisation's approach to the lobbying act?
  • What do you think are the main challenges and opportunities presented by this election for your organisation?
Over to you...
