We've been busy over the last few weeks talking about  Diversity and Discrimination in the charity sector. What are your thoughts? Having you ever experienced discrimination at work?

Today the conversation is all about gender equality. In a sector known for being prominently female, we ask if there really is gender equality? The results of our survey were quite revealing: it shows that the charity sector is indeed female dominated, at least in terms of numbers; in fact 70% of candidates and 80% of recruiters who responded were women. With that said, other surveys have shown that only 44% of senior managers are female, highlighting the prevalence of men in senior and directorial roles. Furthermore, 26% of men thought gender would have an impact on their career while 56% of women thought the same; though some men expressed that some organisations are staffed almost entirely with women and that they can be left feeling unwelcome.

Our survey did suggest that candidates did not experience a gender pay gap, but that some discrimination was prevalent when it came to older candidates and those with caring responsibilities.  If you'd like to see this information in further detail, the whole article is available here. with that said, I'd love to know how you feel, what are your experiences of gender discrimination in the charity sector?
