Just launched, a new £500m fund to break down barriers to opportunity for up to 200,000 vulnerable children and young people. It's aim is to boost pupil achievement and could fund programmes to reduce reoffending or provide specialist workers for children struggling with exclusion, mental health or crime. It'll run for ten years, with plans to raise another £500 million from local government, social investors, and philanthropists. I remain mindful that not that long ago they announced new funding that replaced other funding (for the same purpose) they'd cut.
