CharityConnect: Room to Reward - Luxury Breaks for Outstanding Volunteers
Hi everyone!
With Volunteer's Week looming I wanted to introduce our charity and how we help other charities recognise their amazing volunteers. Hopefully some of you will already be aware of us, and hopefully everyone else will enjoy a bit of lunchtime reading!
Room to Reward is a unique volunteer recognition charity created to say 'thank you' to those that do so much, for so many.
Our initiative is simple: We invite hotels to donate their anticipated unsold rooms to R2R. We then invite registered UK charities to nominate their Hidden Heroes - staff and volunteers who really make a difference with their commitment and impact - for a well deserved break and bring it all together.
At this point, I'm usually asked what the catch is and I'm delighted to say there is none! There is no cost to the charities or nominees (with the exception of travel costs). Nominated Hidden Heroes have the full choice of 150+ hotel partners to enjoy a 1-2 night, bed and breakfast complementary break in.
From humble beginnings in 2015, we have grown to include a wide range of hotels all over the UK. We now partner with over 130 charities, from major national organisations such as SCOPE, SSAFA, MENCAP, The National Autistic Society, Whizz-Kidz, The Young Lives Foundation to small local charities making an essential difference in their communities.
We are lucky to read and hear stories about ordinary people doing extraordinary things for their charities every day, and luckier still to be able to give something back as a 'thank you.' We'll be sharing a handful of these stories throughout Volunteers Week but I guess the main purpose of this post is to invite you/your charities to find out more about R2R and how you can use our charity to give back to your volunteers. (e.g. some charities just make nominations over the course of the year, others use R2R for their own volunteer awards/recognition shcemes).
For more information, I've included some (hopefully) useful links below:
Our website: www.roomtoreward.org
A video showcasing some of the volunteers who have enjoyed an R2R break:
Mandy's story (one of the first Hidden Heroes to be nominated and the epitome of what R2R is about. Fair warning, it's an emotional watch)

I'd be delighted to field any questions and give more information if you're interested. Feel free to comment or email me [email protected] or my colleague [email protected]

Thanks for reading!
Joe
