Hi,
I'm looking at amending our sick pay policy as it doesn't feel very generous to me (I come from a public sector background!).  Our current policy is based on length of service:
  • Less than 1 year - 2 weeks at full pay, 2 weeks half pay
  • 1 year but less than 2 years - 3 weeks at full pay, 3 weeks at half pay
  • 2 years but less than 4 years - 4 weeks at full pay, 4 weeks at half pay
  • 4 years + - 6 weeks at full pay, 6 weeks at half pay
Is anyone able to share informally what they offer?

I'm currently proposing a flat structure of 6 weeks at full pay and 6 weeks at half pay after someone's probation period.  It feels to me that sickness doesn't discriminate on length of service, and I also don't want a miserly sick pay policy to be a barrier to recruiting people who have long service and experience elsewhere.

Any thoughts?
