Mental Health In The Unemployed.
Why do people who are working think the unemployed are all playing the system?
Simple they do not understand what being unemployed can do to you, your confidence is destroyed, your self esteem is at a all time low and every thing that happens makes you anxious.
I work with the unemployed and try to help them find work by teaching interviewing skills,c.v. writing and personal statements, customer service skills just to name but a few.I have completed a mental health first aid course to understand what symptoms to look out for when a person is crying out for help but does not know who to turn to for help.
When you are unemployed you are at the mercy of the job centre who can sanction you so you recieve no money and if you cannot pay the rent you become homeless so you resort to begging to survive. Mental health covers a much larger field than many people can ever begin to understand the pressure you are put under by everyone to get a job. Many young people who I work with cannot get a job because they do not have the experience, how can they gain experience if they cannot get a job in the first place?
I agree there are people who dont want to work and do play the system and use illness and mental health issues to refrain from going to work, but with the new plans the goverment has to stop the system being unlawfully used so that there is more money to fund mental health.
