This question is from a member of our community that wishes to remain anonymous:
I've been approached for advice around how too access funding to build a detox/rehab centre in Zimbabwe. Although the charity I work for are an addiction recovery charity, we are UK based and I have no experience of finding international funding.  The person in question is a colleague who owns some suitable land in Zimbabwe and has already secured support for the plan from local chiefs, which I understand is the first step, and he is able to travel there in a couple of months to try and build on this.  He feels that he would be able to secure revenue funding from local government once the facility were built, as he has some family connections which would give him an inroad.
Projected capital costs are around the £100k mark.
Can anyone give me any pointers around the key things he needs to consider when trying to progress things?  Would he need to set himself up as a charity in this country (or Zimbabwe?) to have the best chance of securing capital funding?  Or would he be better off approaching an existing charity which works in the area and try to engage them in his attempts to fundraise?
Many thanks!
