Hello Everyone
The charity I work for have been offered spaces in a VIP Box at a high profile sporting event. The organisers of the event are going to donate the proceeds of the sales from the box to us, but have suggested we offer two spaces as a prize in a raffle to try and raise even more money.
The raffle tickets would be for a set amount and sold online and in person both on AND off the charities' premises. We would sell the tickets over several weeks and then make the draw, and advise the winner. We would publish the draw date in advance of tickets going on sale.
We would advertise and sell the tickets via our own social media/website PLUS ask some third parties (e.g. the organisers, supporters trust and our own donors/supporters) to promote this through their own channels.
I am not clear if we would need a licence to hold this raffle (from the information I have read on both the Gambling Commission and the Institute of Fundraising websites). I have never ran a raffle like this so please can any of you Charity Connectors advise me of the process.
Thank you and Happy New Year! Jill
