Checking driving docs for volunteers that drive to where their role takes place

Natasha Ward Head of stakeholder management at MCF Posted 3 years ago

We have volunteers who visit people at home to help them complete forms.  We reimburse the costs of travel to the volunteers home, including mileage.
To be clear the volunteers do not drive on our behalf - it is simply the way they reach the place the volunteer activity takes place.
As we reimburse mileage costs, it has been suggested that we annually carry out checks to ensure the volunteers have a valid licence, insurance and MOT.  I wondered if any others did the same?  If so, how often do you do this?   if not, what if any checks do you carry out in this respect?
Thanks in advance
