This question is from a member of our community that wishes to remain anonymous:
As a small children's charity we have 3 part-time employed members of staff but rely on engaging freelancers for more specific types of activities/help. For example cookery activities, art therapy, music, sports.
We issue freelancers with a statement from the charity explaining that it is the freelancers responsibility to report to HMRC any income received & comprehensive information on how they can get help & advice with self assessment etc if needed.
Are we doing enough to provide "duty of care" or should we consider more support? Any advice would be very much appreciated.
