Advice to someone new to Individual Giving

Our charity has a stand at a local Spring Farm Fair in a couple of week's time. We booked the pitch primarily for awareness raising purposes - to hand out leaflets, maybe get some people signed up to our mailing list, etc.
We will have a collecting tin present in case anyone feels generous! But it seems a shame to waste the opportunity to potentially do a little bit of fundraising as well. Does anyone have any ideas about something simple and easy we could do to draw people to our stall, and raise some cash?
I did think about a 'how many sweets in a jar' type thing, or baking some green cakes (the colour associated with our cause) and asking for a donation in return for one. But with the former, it relies on the winner being around till the end of the day, and with the latter I'm not that much of a baker, and there's also the food health and safety side to consider!
Any innovative or tried and tested ideas are welcome!
