Foundation CIO - can the volunteers be called non-voting members?

Nicky Heppenstall Trustee at Remember My Baby Posted 4 years ago

Our Foundation CIO has 4 trustees who are the voting members. We have a pool of around 250 volunteers who are informally referred to as members, they have no voting rights. May we continue to refer to them as members, or are we legally obliged to called them 'friends', 'supporters' or similar? The volunteers provide the core services to service users with several volunteer role titles, but collectively, they are referred to as 'members' and 'the membership'. I can't find a definitive answer to this specific question.
Grateful for signposting to a source of information, many thanks,
