Behaviours for the Future - Adapted from Sally Falvey,
  • Hybrid Events - This is the concept of mass participation that can take be held in a single location, participants taking part virtually. We wanted to share just one examples where the charity have combined a variety of ‘tools’ to create a crowd pleasing events.- East Anglian Air Ambulance - Together We Run
  • Online Community and Connection - Whilst charities traditional focus on 1-2-1 contact, research shows that participant wont to connect and support other participants. There are some great platforms that can help enable this such ‘Strava’.
  • Know Your Audience - Knowing who you are talking to has never been more important. Donor support changes for a variety of reasons from changes in the family dynamic, to growing old. All of these types of factor not only effect the supporters interest but also the value of their and the frequency. Make sure you are using your CRM System to it’s absolute max The main thing is to ensure you have quality data to use, so have you thought doing a data cleanse and re-establishing your minimum requirements.
  • Cross Functional Teams with Shared Goals - Working together has never been more important, from knowing your programmes, to understand finance. By working with colleagues across your organisation you are able to bring together specialist and experiences and focus these on common goals. This could be for example a corporate partner or a specific campaign.
  • Balance Planning with Responding - Thinking about fundraising specifically, considering your long terms plans is virtual for example your annual calendar is important to be set early as there a variety deadline and sign-offs before you even get a sign, but along side this you need to align enough that you can respond to last changes or opportunity. One of our key types for this process mapping your event planning process and look at ways of simplifying the process that can be used for any event, and has quick sign off and approval process.
The New Leadership Skillset - Adapted from Zoe Amar
  • Leaders as Community Managers - Leader’s need to rank themselves how they connect with their team, how they bring them together and how they deliver results. Remote Management is a skill in it’s self, and certainly something we would recommend you consider hiring a professional coach to build your skillset. A really important part of this is listen, more so then normal. You need to hear what’s causing them issues, and what just dioes’t add value.
  • The Ability to Pivot and Adaptability - As regulations regularly change and an event maybe legal, but illegal next. Leaders need to able respond dynamically and provided direction for the team top ensure that work lost or opportunities missed out on..
  • Transparency - Now more then ever you need to be honest and open about the challenges the organisations faces and difficult decisions that need to be made. This will hekp you build trust and engagement with your teams, and intern help drive performance and success.
The Future is Sustainability - Adapted from Fruzsi Kozma
  • No longer is sustainability just a corporate concern. Charities need to be doing their bit for the environment, and this will in turn help drive supporter engagement and hopefully minimise costs.
  • Idea’s include ‘Save a Tree’, Plastic Not Fantastic’, and Waste Less and Eat Good.
  • We would recommend implement an environment impact assessment for your organisation. This sort of process will not only identify opportunities for more sustainable approaches, but also help you understand what you can and con’t control.
Online Giving - Adapted from Steve MacLaughlin
  • Stop, Start, Continue - Review your process and procedures and lok at ways you make changes to improve the supporter journey. This will not only identify efficiencies and cost savings, but also look at new ways of working.
  • Common Best Practices - There are a wide range of reports and insights that can help you shape your approaches. These aren’t significant changes but ways of improving your supporter journey and adding value to your campaigns.
  • Mobile is the New Normal - Instead of starting with a traditional website, think about your mobile version. How will it appear, how will it work, and will data be recorded. You should still multiple channels to communicate messages. Think about how you go about using mobile as the entry point for your supporters.
  • Socialising with a Crowd - Crowd funding or peer to peer funding is becoming a sustainability income generation tool for charities. This type of platform works most effectively when you already have a large supporter who would be willing to get involved. Remember to consider your conversation rates.
