Has anybody set up a Raiser's Edge Email Welcome Series?

Hi everyone, I'm currently setting up an email Welcome Series through Raiser's Edge. I'm wondering what successes others have had with a Welcome Series, and more specifically if you set the Workflow up by using Select Criteria or Select List? I've been told by a Blackbaud rep to use Select List as it allows you to remove someone from a Workflow.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Lee.
