How would it work for a trustee to take a sabbatical?

Hattie Clayton Chair of Trustees at JIGSAW Thornbury Posted 10 months ago

I have had a request from a trustee to take a sabbatical from now until after Christmas. As I understand it from the Charity Commission and our governing document, I would be able to grant them permission to take time away from meetings, but they would remain a trustee with all trustee legal duties and decision-making accountability. It looks like the only way for her to take a full break would be to resign and consider re-applying to join the board again (which is something I have read about in other post threads).
Has anyone been in a similar situation or have any advice? I am just trying to get all the options clear before having a discussion to decide the best way forwards with them.
Thanks!
