We're in the process of updating our Salary Policy and it has been suggested by some of our Trustees that we look at linking pay and performance (so good performance leads to a salary increase).  It's my impression that this is fairly uncommon in the charity sector, particularly in smaller charities (we have just over 30 members of staff).  Does anyone have any experience of this or any thoughts?  Given that we're purpose-driven rather than profit-driven I'm not sure I'm very comfortable with it, but I could be persuaded otherwise if there was a compelling case.
