Need advice on incorporating our group

Hi Charity Connect,
I am part of a group of people who have been involved in voluntarily organising a community arts and music event in a small town. Whilst in the first year this was an event that took place in a single day, last year it grew to include a few workshops and talks in the run up to the main event.
Now in the third year, the event is naturally growing again and we would ideally love to support it with funding in some way to increase the offering.
We are currently an unincorporated group, and whilst this suits us in many ways (no need for regular trustee meetings etc), it is limiting in other ways (no ways for us to get a separate organisation bank account).
I was wondering if anyone here has been involved in any similar projects and could provide advice on the best potential structure for our group? The main reasons we would like to be incorporated in some way are:
- To increase the types of funding we can apply for
- To set up a separate bank account for the project
- To pay people on a freelance basis
As this is a project which only happens once a year, across one month, we are ideally looking for a community group structure which is low maintenance and doesn't require large financial outlay or constant administrative or governance oversight.
