Safeguarding - definitions of abuse

HR

Natasha Ward Head of stakeholder management at MCF Posted 6 years ago

Hi
We are currently reviewing our safeguarding policies and procedures.  Is anyone able to point me to a source which provides a list of types of abuse, covering both children and adults?  We operate nationally and I have been looking at a number of sample policies but I am finding there is some variation in the types specified in policies.  I am keen that we are wide reaching in our definition to ensure we do not discourage reporting of concerns, but I'm also wary of attempting a comprehensive list if it then suggests that anything falling outside those parameters is not relevant.  For example, do we specifically need to mention the context of domestic and online abuse if we are including physical, emotional, sexual and psychological abuse as areas of which to be aware?
Any advice/thoughts/experiences welcome.
Thanks!
