Can a voting member (non-trustee) receive a wage?

Governance

Ella Kennedy N/A Posted 1 year ago

I currently run an unincorporated association and in our constitution it allows people to apply as voting members outside of trusteeship, to hold trustees to account, etc. I understand this is also the case in the CIO Association model which is something I'm considering for the organisation moving forward.
As volunteer founder I am interested in a) having a voting say at board level but also b) receiving a wage when the charity is in a position to do that.
Can I have both? Or if I want to be paid do I need to leave the voting up the trustees?
Thank you!
