Hi. 

I currently run an unregistered charity that has had a low income over the years. We recently have grown and are looking into registering as a charity as our funds are just over the threshold of £5,000 this past year. 

I am aware of charity law, constitutions etc as we have one but also becoming very confused and overwhelmed with the whole process as there seems to be endless info out there! I was just wanting to ask a question re the different types of charity structure. 

I know there are four main ones: CIO, charitable company, unincorporated organisation and trust but after much reading I still can't really work out the main difference between all of them. Is someone able to explain in simpler terminology? And also any recommendations on which structure may be best for us? We will be run mainly by trustees - along with unpaid volunteers - , currently have a threshold of over £5,000 income in the past year and I don't expect it to go much higher than about £10,000 per year anytime soon. I don't currently expect to hire any employees or rent property, except for maybe a small storage unit for excess bits. 

If anyone is able to give me any ideas, that would be highly appreciated. Thanks!
