Charities with experience of membership schemes?

Jenni Regan Director at London Arts in Health Forum Posted 7 years ago

I had my first board as Director last night which was a bit scary but actually really useful. We call ourselves a membership organisation at the moment but there is actually no sign up process so we are sending out newsletters without really knowing very much about who they are going to.
I want to introduce more formal membership. I think this would need to be non-voting and would be a way for people to access better resources and support (we support Arts in Health activity).
Has anyone successfully moved to a membership model and could they share any hints or tips with me? How have you encouraged people to register? Have you managed to encourage corporate members or friends?
Thanks
