How to navigate charity dormancy/closure?

Craig Bowden Trustee at Charity Posted 2 years ago

I am working with a charity facing risk of closure. We have carried our the exercise to ensure redundancy can be paid to our paid staff, but I am unclear what the rules are around charity continuation with volunteers and/or putting the charity into a dormant state whilst we as trustees continue the fundraising efforts.
Has anyone ever had any experience of this and can you confirm if this can even be done? We have already reduced costs as much as possible, however with outstanding decisions still to be made on significant funding applications, we're not really wanting to close the charity altogether.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
