Charity registration – £5,000 income threshold clarification

We have established a new charitable organisation structured as a Company Limited by Guarantee (CLG) and we are planning to register it with the Charity Commission.
However, we have received conflicting information regarding the registration requirements. In particular, we would like to clarify whether we can apply for registration before reaching the £5,000 income threshold, or whether registration is only possible after this threshold has been met.
Our understanding is that the £5,000 threshold means that registration becomes mandatory once this level of income is reached, rather than indicating that registration is only permitted at that point. We would appreciate confirmation as to whether early or voluntary registration is possible prior to reaching this income level.
