Hi,
There was a post about google ads and whether it was worth it. I did give a brief answer but I felt I should share more in details.
1. Charities (registered with charity commission and CIO)
If you are a charity, it is definitely worth registering with google. In this way, you are able to use google workspace free without paying for individual emails. Using google workspace allows you to integrate of related google services. On top of that, you are given $10000 per month to run adwords. If you use it wisely, it would definitely benefit your charity.
However, you must be aware, these days it is not easy to optimise website. If anyone tells you it is easy, it is not. The algorithms have changed over the years and it can be hard to fully optimise a site. As long as you ensure your site is "clean" and your website developer knows what they are going.
These days,  social media is key - for optimising how people looks for you. # (hashtags) are very important for social media search engine. It is important to develop a strategy towards it.
2. CIC (Community Interest Company)
Even if you have the best intention as a CIC, sadly google doesn't see the structure as a non-profit organisation. Therefore you are unlikely to be granted free google workspace and free adwords. Primarily they see CIC as profit making organisation with shareholders.
I hope this helps as I have been asked a lot recently by many people, not from CharityConnect. I thought I share some of my experiences. However, if you want to chat with me further about this, I am happy to do so.
To sum up, if you are a charity, do apply for google workspace - I do recommend it - and use the adwords! This saves you money!
Blessings to all.
Christina
