This question is from a member of our community that wishes to remain anonymous:
How does a charity reflect the ins and outs of VAT in their accounts, when using third party fundraisers?
For example where contactless donations taken are paid direct into the charity's bank account, the third party agency then invoices the charity for their commission at say 50% of gross income.
As they do a lot of these collections the agency levies VAT on these invoices, which the charity then reclaims, so overall would benefit by 50% of donations collected.
How can the charity account for receiving ultimately 50% not just 30% of donations?
