i have recently started my first position in an animal charity. we ask for a relinquishment amount as a donation for animals that we take in from the public, these are normally just paid as a bank transfer. however we are taking in an animal from a member of tyhe public, who is self employed, and wants an invoice for the donation amount, presumably so she can offset as an expense in her self assessment. Can we do this, or would that mean it wouldnt be classed as a donation? and what would the VAT implications be?
