Length of notice period on employment contracts?

Hello wise ones,

I'd be interested to hear from you what your respective employers offer as a reasonable notice period for employment contracts?

We currently have this clause in our PAYE contracts:

[After successful completion of your Probationary Period as provided for in clause xx] the Company is required to give You one month’s written notice of termination during the first two years of employment and thereafter an additional week for each complete year of service up to 12 weeks for 12 or more years’ service.

My colleagues are concerned that 1 month is not long enough notice for employees who've been working 2 years or less.

I'd welcome your views on this.
