Hello all, established 12 years ago we are a medium-sized charity with 6 people on the executive team and our CEO/Co-founder is transitioning out of the role and likely to become a trustee (maybe even the chair). We have a robust, skilled and committed executive team and 3 of us have been asked by the charity members/volunteers to explore recommendations to the trustee board on what future governance could look like. 

We are looking at a number of options besides the sole CEO model and one fo them is a 3-way CEO-ship along the lines of a triumvirate.

Does anyone know and have experience of such a model? It would be great to hear from you.

And can anyone let me know how this governance structure can be formalised so that the lines of accountability are clear...or clear enough? Would the governing docs need to be adjusted?

We have considered having the outward-facing structure as a sole CEO and working with an agreed 3-way governance internally.

Any thoughts?
