J’m trying to ascertain whether offering accredited training to young volunteers (14 - 18s) would be considered a payment in kind. This would attract young volunteers who have the necessary commitment required to carry out their volunteer roles and would be in addition to statutory training but could be considered as mandatory for some young volunteers.
If this training was not considered mandatory,  would it then be considered by HMRC to be a benefit in kind? If so, are there any suggestions about grants that may be available to potential volunteers to fund such training?

Any help and suggestions would be very gratefully received!
