Posting bilingually on Facebook? (whilst avoiding their auto translate)

Danny Owen Digital Communications Support Officer at WCVA Posted 1 year ago

Hi all,
This might be a bit niche for Charity Connect but wanted to post here just in case anyone had been through anything similar!
Our org is bound by the Welsh Language Standards to provide a bilingual service, which extends to all our social media posts (but we'd do it anyway as we're passionate about sustaining and growing use of the language). We tend to do two posts (one English one Welsh) to reflect this.
Recently this has become a bit tricky with Facebook. It has started automatically (and often badly) translating every post to the user's preferred language - this means that we just end up with one English post and then another slightly nonsensical English post, sometimes even with incorrect information. In the case of Welsh where we're trying to make sure the language appears in front of people, this is not ideal.
Has anyone else who's posting bilingually found a satisfactory solution to this issue?
