CharityConnect: Q&A: Fundraising In Scotland in support of IoF Scotland Conference
How can charities across the UK respond to market conditions to maximise opportunities in Scotland?

To follow on from this year's IoF Scotland Conference, we are hosting a Q&A especially for fundraisers in Scotland. Join us on Thursday 11th October, 1-2pm GMT, to ask an incredible panel everything you want to know about being a fundraiser in Scotland.
** To take part, simply comment your questions or opinions below, either now or during the live hour**

Some areas we will discuss:
  • How should your charity structure itself to take advantage of opportunities in Scotland?
  • Does your charity have a Scotland prescience on social media? If not, how do you promote activities in-country?
  • For some donors the ability to restrict income to work being undertaken in Scotland is important. How does your charity respond to requests to restrict income in this way?
  • With important issues devolved to the Scottish Parliament and a dedicated Scottish media, does your charity have a Scotland Policy team and/or Press Officers?

Your panel of Scottish Fundraising Experts:
Gary Kernahan is Chair of the Scottish Fundraising Conference and a Consultant at THINK Consulting Solutions. An experienced fundraising leader, Gary has previously led fundraising teams at Cancer Research UK, the National Autistic Society and Muscular Dystrophy UK.

Nicola Sinclair is an experienced Fundraiser with over 15 years’ experience with the Save the Children, Erskine, Shelter and MS Society Scotland. Currently, Nicola helps organisations with great fundraising in her role as Head of Client Services at Revolutionise. Nicola holds three voluntary positions with the IoF - Chair of the Scotland’s Directors and Heads of Fundraising Special Interest Group, Chair of the Standards Advisory Board Scotland, and member of the Scotland Executive Committee.

Barbara Osborne is the Chief Executive of Music in Hospitals & Care. Barbara’s previous roles include Director of Income Generation and Marketing at Myeloma UK and Head of Community and Volunteer Fundraising at British Heart Foundation. She is an Executive Committee Member for the Institute of Fundraising Scotland.

Murray Easton is Scottish Fundraising Manager at the British Heart Foundation. Murray has an extensive fundraising background, working at charities such as Marie Curie, Pancreatic Cancer Scotland and Maggie’s Centre.

** If you can’t make the live hour, please comment any questions you’d like answered below now. **
** To participate, you need a CharityConnect account. If you haven’t already got one, head here to sign up. **
** The conversation will show the newest questions first. **
