Registering with the Fundraising Regulator and proving its worth

Rosie Milsom Fundraising Manager at Caudwell LymeCo Posted 6 years ago

Hi All,
I'd like to register our charity with the Fundraising Regulator, as I believe this to be good practice. As a small charity, I think it may help to show that we are ethical in our fundraising and reassure donors.
However, as there is a cost to registering, our Trustees have asked whether there is a tangible way that we can track whether we would receive a return on what we would pay. Basically, to prove its worth as a membership. Our fundraising costs are less than £100k so the cost would only be £50. But a cost is a cost!
Does anyone have any advice or experience on this? It's hard to say whether it would be a decision maker for someone looking to donate to us, unless we asked. We could do a donor survey, but we could only ask those already known to us, and I suppose it's more about it's impact in drawing in new supporters.
Thank you
