Sabbatical policy and good practice?

Good afternoon, a member of our team has requested to take a sabbatical next year. At Made in Hackney we are very supportive of staff taking time for travel and personal development but do not as yet have a formalised policy for this.
I would be grateful if you could share any policies and examples of good practice and innovation in the area of sabbaticals for staff?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
