Volunteers taking food, what policies can we introduce to stop this? (Anonymous post 🤫)
I have recently taken over a charity with new trustees that was established 28 years ago. Over the years, this charity has helped thousands of people with their mental and physical wellbeing. It has successfully completed many great projects with the help of dozens of dedicated volunteers.
However, in the last 10 years, especially since the pandemic, many trustees and volunteers have passed away, become ill, or retired. This has led to a significant decline in funding and activities, bringing them almost to a standstill. As a result, the charity's accounts are not impressive at all. Despite this, the remaining trustees and volunteers have continued their work without any financial backing. It might sound unusual, but these volunteers have managed to support thousands of people, even without funds. They have ensured that all activities comply with ethical and safety standards, maintaining the charity's reputation.
Given this situation, I am wondering whether it is worth rejuvenating this charity, given its long history, or if it would be better to establish a new charity.
I would appreciate any advice or suggestions
