CharityConnect: Start a Project Management Career
Hi, my name is Lucia, I live in London and I’m writing you to ask you some informations or advices about starting a career as a Project Management for charities. I’m Italian and I have a master’s degree in Political sciences and I’m specialised in international development and cooperation. I used to work as assistant project manager for charities in Italy and in Africa but when I moved to London I started working in other fields at the point that “I’ve lost my way”. I’m working as a nanny but I’m not happy of my working life right now. I don’t feel fulfilled and satisfied. I’m trying to get back to the charity sector, I’ve got a PRINCE2 Foundation certification and I’m studying for the Practicioner. I  even applied for different internships where you don’t need any experience but I never was successful. I feel stuck and I would really want to change my job because I’m very passionate about it and about helping others. Until 2014 my career was pretty straight because I only and always worked for charities. I’m 34 years old, do you think there’s any chance to start a career again? And if yes, how can I do it? I’ve tried to contact different agencies too but they require experience, how can I gain it? I’m ready to do everything to gain experience and to learn as much as I can.
I’m sorry for this long message and hopefully you will be able to help me with it.
Thank you in advance for your kindness,
Lycis
