Hello!
I run a Twitter account for the charity I work for that has around 7500 followers. Engagement, follower count and general interaction with our account was very successful at the start of 2023 and since the platform has become X and prioritised paid content, we have seen a dramatic decline in numbers. I am also unable to access reliable analytics to see how we are performing. Over the past few months, I have been aware of some charities dropping off and leaving the platform due to a rise in hate speech and being targetted by trolls.
Twitter has been the best option for reaching our audience, but it has become clear that the VCSE sector is at the bottom of the pile for accounts receiving engagements. We have been considering moving to Threads, but we only have just over 200 followers on Instagram and it would take a while to build our audience on a new platform. I have found that our LinkedIn presence has increased with a 15% engagement rate on each post and this has been a great way of getting any training, events or information out to people, but there are limits to how many posts I should do a day, etc. and not all of our service users have a LinkedIn account/page.
How are you finding X? Do you have any suggestions? Have you moved to Threads? Any advice would be appreciated - thank you!
