Advice on a volunteer

Hi, I'm manager of a charity shop, and I'm looking for some advice on one of my volunteers. He's been a volunteer for a while, longer than I've been with the company.
He's a very hard worker, but has the mindset of his way is right and anyone else's way is wrong.
Recently his mum passed away and I've noticed a shift in his attitude, he still works hard, but now gets frustrated a lot more when things don't go his way or he's told something he doesn't agree with.
This has resulted in a few occasions where he has swore on the shop floor in earshot of customers.
If this was a few weeks ago I would of already pulled him and possibly taken further action, but want to tread lightly due to the recent passing of his mother.
