Appointment of CEO clause in CIO constitution

Start-up Charity

Keith Farnan Kidocracy Posted 1 year ago

Hi all, we're in the process of setting up an educational charity and while we've followed the guidance from the commission.
However, we're unsure as to whether there needs to be a specific paragraph in the constitution to cover the appointment of a CEO or whether it's covered under the general powers of the Trustees in running the CIO? Any input welcome.
Many thanks. Keith

The power to appoint staff is contained in the two model CIO constitutions (foundation and association) from the commission, so that shouldn't present any problems if you are using one of those.
This assumes that paid (executive) staff are totally separate from trustees.
However, if there's any uncertainly, or If you need more advice or guidance about the setting up of your constitution I'd be pleased to help - I've nurtured several new charities through the registration process. Get in touch.

David Head   Thanks so much David. Yes, the paid staff would be seperate from the trustees. Appreciate you taking the time to reply. Will be in touch if anything else pops up. Many thanks, Keith
