Hello, This is a sensitive request as negotiations are ongoing. I'm a charity trustee involved in taking over (all willing participants!) a community building from a charity that is dissolving. We will take over all costs and all payments from room rentals. All financial assets owned by that charity are to be gifted to chosen organisations. The charity I represent have asked to see the accounts as the ‘accounts and TAR’ are not publicly available on The Charity Commission site but we have been refused access. Is this reasonable? I cannot find a straightforward answer to whether we have a legal right to see the accounts.
